Also Available and Highly Recommended:

The AST Overwater Survival Pouch w/PLB featuring the ACR MicroFix, McMurdo FastFind Max-G, or FastFind 210 (406MHz) Personal Location Beacons with built-in GPS.

The Microfix or Max-G Personal Location Beacons (PLBs) fit perfectly in the front pocket of this pouch! The FastFind 210 fits very impressively in the side netting compartment. The PLB will bring them in close and the pouch signals will bring them right to you. Now that's survival!

The ACR MicroFix, McMurdo FastFind Max-G, and FastFind 210 are revolutionary hand held Personal Locater Beacons that features a built-in GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver combined with a powerful 5 watt 406MHz transmitter and 121.5MHz homing beacon transmitter. The much smaller FastFind 210 model includes a strobe light! In the event of an emergency, an alert signal is transmitted to CospasSARSAT satellites and forwarded to a rescue coordination center within typically 3 minutes. The built-in GPS receiver will provide latitude and longitude coordinates to give a position typically within 98 feet anywhere in the world. These PLB's are available with the AST Over-water/Land Survival Pouch, the new AK-1 Mini-Pack, or separate.

"For small kits, we like the AST's overwater fanny pack. It's inexpensive, practical, you can wear it, there's no chance it will be left behind. The pack has room for additional items and a Personal Location Beacon, an addition we think every owner should consider." The Aviation Consumer" 03/06.

Experts agree that Winslow Liferafts are without exception the lightest and finest Liferafts built in the world today. Winslow has been rated #1 in every test conducted by The Aviation Consumer since 1994 when the brutally critical publication conducted the first ever exhaustive testing and review of Aviation liferafts with their Winslow Liferafts. The conclusion, "The Winslow is our first choice...by a large margin".

 Liferaft Training:

Do you carry a liferaft and not sure how to use it? Don't feel alone. Many, if not all of the participants in my seminars had no idea how to inflate, how to climb in, or how to survive in a liferaft. This seminar is for you! Great for aviation flying clubs, fishing clubs etc. Believe me, you don't want to wait until you are out there to learn. The last thing you want to do after the egress, is to start reading the instructions on the liferaft valise.

My class will show you:

  • Where to carry the liferaft when flying over water
  • How to deploy the liferaft
  • How to enter the liferaft from the wing and from the water
  • How to set up team survival (signals, bailer, lookout, etc.)
  • How to apply the Seven Steps to Survival Plan in a liferaft scenario

Corporate Part 135 Liferaft / Water Survival Course available.
